Privacy & Terms
Everything you need to know about how Cubra handles your data, what you agree to by using the app, and the legal fine print — all in one place.
Effective: May 19, 2026
Information We Collect
Cubra collects only the information you provide when you create an account: your email address (for login), display name, and — if you sign in with Google — your name and profile picture as provided by Google. We do not collect phone numbers, physical addresses, or payment information.
The app also stores usage data that you generate while cubing:
- Solve times, penalties (DNF / +2), and scramble sequences
- Session history and averages (ao5, ao12, ao50, ao100)
- Algorithm flashcard progress and CFOP trainer states
- App preferences, theme settings, and puzzle type selections
- WCA ID (if connected) and competition search location
- Rank progression, XP, and quest completion data
How Data Is Stored
Cubra uses a hybrid storage approach:
- Browser localStorage — your solve data, sessions, and settings are stored on your device for fast access and offline use
- Firebase Authentication — your login credentials are managed securely by Google Firebase. Passwords are never stored by Cubra directly
- Cloud Firestore — your user profile, WCA ID, and app data are synced to Google's cloud infrastructure so you can access your data across devices
Key point: Your solve data syncs to the cloud for cross-device access, but we never sell, share, rent, or monetise your data in any form. It exists solely to power your cubing experience.
Third-Party Services
Cubra integrates with the following external services:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, and hosting infrastructure
- World Cube Association API — to fetch your official records and upcoming competitions
- Cubing.net — cube state visualisation images and scramble generation
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim — geocoding for competition location searches
- GAN Bluetooth API — smart cube connectivity (only when you initiate a connection)
We do not integrate with any advertising networks, analytics platforms, or data brokers.
Cookies & Storage
Cubra does not use tracking cookies. We use browser localStorage for app data and Firebase's authentication tokens for session management. No third-party cookies are set.
Children's Privacy
Cubra is designed for cubers of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 beyond what is needed for account creation (email and display name). If you are a parent or guardian with concerns, please contact us.
Your Rights
You have full control over your data. You can view your solve history and statistics within the app, update your display name and settings at any time, disconnect your WCA ID, export your data, and delete your account through the app's settings — which removes your local data and your cloud-stored data.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Cubra, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
What Cubra Provides
Cubra is a free, web-based speedcubing companion that includes a precision timer with scramble generation for all WCA events, CFOP method trainer with phase-level timing, algorithm flashcard system with spaced repetition, smart cube Bluetooth connectivity, performance analytics and statistics, WCA profile integration and competition finder, and a rank progression and quest system. All features are provided free of charge.
Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Cubra uses Firebase Authentication — passwords are hashed and managed by Google's infrastructure, not stored by us directly.

Disclaimer of Warranties
Cubra is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free or always available, that timer accuracy matches competition-grade equipment, that scramble sequences are WCA-compliant, or that smart cube connectivity will work with all Bluetooth cubes.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cubra shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of solve data due to browser storage issues or service interruptions.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Cubra after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Cubra is an independent application. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the World Cube Association (WCA), Rubik's Brand Ltd., or any cube manufacturer. The Rubik's Cube is a trademark of Rubik's Brand Ltd.
Algorithm Content
Cube-solving algorithms presented in Cubra are widely published in the speedcubing community and are provided for educational purposes. Cubra does not claim exclusive ownership over algorithmic sequences.
Open Source Components
Cubra incorporates open-source libraries including cubing.js for scramble generation and 3D cube rendering, and the GAN Bluetooth library for smart cube connectivity. Their respective licences apply to those components.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
